At home I’m present and that’s my time to refuel. At work I’m present and alert because I make sure to give myself time to rest and be around the people who give me great energy

What’s the best thing about being an entrepreneur?

You’re free to work in a way that suits you and if that means all night then so be it. I love the way I can fill my calendar with what nourishes my creative side however I please, and all the people I get to meet daily that inspire me to become a even better entrepreneur. Being a entrepreneur is being a multitasker. It’s the creative side of business, the strategic side and practical side – you get very versatile in your skill set and I love that.

What’s your best advice for future/other entrepreneurs?

Stay humble, follow your heart and remember to have fun and celebrate your success. Even the little things, it’s easy to dwell in mistakes and set backs and not celebrate when something pans out the way you planned. Celebrate and pat yourself on the back more. Connect with other entrepreneurs and don’t be afraid to ask them what mistakes they made along the way, you’ll learn a lot and might even dodge a bullet or two. It could save you both money and time, two very important things not to waste when you start a company.

What’s the proudest moment of your career?

Oh my.. I have so many proud moments. When we got the keys for our new HQ. When I won the Royal Patriotic Society Medal for outstanding entrepreneurship, every time a customer connects with us to tell us about how a product we sell has literally changed their life – Like our wigs for example. When someone who hasn’t been able to braid their hair för years due to cancer treatments or alopecia sends us a letter about how they love our products and how amazing it makes them feel. There’s so many things, events, awards and just random moments of my career I would love to mention. How many characters do I have left? Haha. I’ll add more proudest moments soon.

How do you stay motivated and positive?

I make time for my family and make sure to disconnect and be in the moment. That way I’m present where I need to be in that moment. At home I’m present and that’s my time to refuel. At work I’m present and alert because I make sure to give myself time to rest and be around the people who give me great energy. I’m a country girl, I grew up in a small town and I love being outside and preferably on a snowmobile.
